A Lollipop or a Bullet is a short manga based on the book 砂糖菓子の弾丸は撃ちぬけない (Sugar Candy Bullets Can’t Pierce Anything). The plot follows two girls and their summer in rural Japan.
A transfer student claiming to be a mermaid enters the high school of bored and cynical Nagisa. Before she knows it, the strange new girl is spending all of her time following Nagisa around. Through their strange conversations, Nagisa finds out about mermaids and the truth about her hometown.
